Cable with the use of time increase, will appear aging phenomenon, aging is not a problem, aging fault is the problem, in fact, many cable aging failures are avoidable, to avoid these situations, the longer the life of the cable


The most direct reason for the aging failure of wire and cable is that the insulation is lowered and penetrated. There are many factors that reduce the conductivity of insulation:

From the analysis of the operation in recent years, especially in the rapid economic development of the region, a considerable number of cable failures are caused by mechanical damage.


For example: Cable laying installation does not standardize construction, easy to cause mechanical damage; In the direct-buried cable to engage in civil construction is also very easy to run the cable damage and so on. If the damage is not serious, it will take several months or even years to cause the damage site to break down completely, the failure of serious damage may occur, directly affect the safety production of electricity units.

Overload operation, due to the heat effect of the current, the load current through the cable will inevitably lead to fever, at the same time, the charge of the skin effect and the steel armor of the eddy current loss, dielectric loss can also generate additional heat, so that the cable temperature rise. Long-term overload operation, high temperature will accelerate insulation aging, so that insulation is penetrated. Especially during the hot summer months, the heating of the cable often leads to the breakdown of the cable insulation, so in the summer, cable failures are particularly numerous.

The cable joint is the weakest link in the cable line, the cable joint fault caused by the direct negligence of the personnel (bad construction) often occurs.
